Additional Field Services Overview
Bradleys' offers comprehensive field services including thermography, vibration analysis, dry ice blasting, and more. To add to our assurance of quality service we also provide on-site cleaning, rebuild & rewind services, removal & installation, and turnaround support. These are part of our commitment in customer service in electric motor repair.
On-Site Cleaning
Motor Exterior - Cleaning of motor exterior will be by sandblasting and/or steam cleaning. During dry ice blasting, nameplate and customer's identification plate will be protected with bearing housing openings tightly sealed against the entrance of sand.
Metal Parts Cleaning - All metal parts will be cleaned by sandblasting, steam cleaning or solvent. Plastic fans will be removed before sandblasting. If end bells (bearing brackets) are sandblasted, bearing housing openings will be tightly sealed against the entrance of sand . All machined rabbet fits will be protected against damage by blasting. Generally, the shaft will not be sandblasted. However, if the central portion of the shaft must be blasted, the end portion of the shaft including the journal (bearing fits), oil seal and coupling fit areas will be protected.
Insulation Cleaning - Motor insulation will be washed with hot, soapy water at approximately 200 degrees F at a pressure that will not damage insulation, then rinsed with fresh water. After cleaning, the unit will be baked at approximately 285 degrees F until an acceptable insulation resistance level is obtained. This process usually takes eight to fourteen hours.
Machine Fit Protection - Machine fits, such as end bells, will be coated with a grease lubricant. Permatex Aviation Sealer or an equivalent substitute will be used for sealing machine fits (such as bearing caps, etc.) where gaskets are not recommended, but oil leaks are possible.
Rebuild & Rewind
Our rebuilding and motor rewinding jobs include services such as stripping, cleaning, inspection of the motor components, motor rewinding, application of insulating varnish by vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) process, repair and/or replace parts as required, and applicable testing. Anti-friction bearings will be replaced "like-for-like." Sleeve bearings will be inspected, and if necessary, re-babbitted or replaced per customer instructions. During rebuilding and motor rewinding jobs, the customer will be notified of additional repairs needed based upon disassembly inspection.
